Yes, yes, I know. 2025 was a terrible riding year for me. I hardly got out at all because I had a broken seat for much of the year and I had trouble getting it welded. It was so bad, I basically stopped making videos at the end of the summer.

Will 2026 be better? I really can't say. I want to ride more, especially with my riding buddies, but life has a habit of getting in the way of the simple pleasures, doesn't it? With a bit of luck, I can get a few good rides in and make a few videos.

But don't hold your breath!

Today I had my first ride of 2025, and it felt really good to be back on two wheels. Most of the grit and salt that was on the roads had been washed away by the rain, although some cinders remained in those parts of Pennsylvania where the local municipality was trying to save money. So the conditions were pretty good, and I enjoyed myself. It wasn't perfect though, because I need to rebuild my motorcycle muscles a bit. My right hip and right knee did not take kindly to the fairly high peg position on my Speed Twin, but after about 10 minutes the ache went away.

Unless events make it difficult, I plan to ride a bit more this year. There are a bunch of guys I quite like to ride with, and we have every intention of meeting up at least once each month. Hopefully I will be able to keep banging out my weekly riding videos, and maybe I'll be able to sneak in the odd motovlog this season.

This has been quite the year for me. As I mentioned in my previous post, my wife did indeed retire; however, we are still very much living in the same home and we are nowhere near ready to go with putting the house on the market and moving somewhere new. There's just been too much happening this year to really get to grips with everything that needs doing.

Earlier in the year, my wife and I drove to Vermont to see a solar eclipse, then later in the month I went on a group ride with some buddies that was tremendous fun. Unfortunately, something went wrong with my audio recorder and I was unable to turn my footage into a video. In the early summer, my wife and I drove from our home in Pennsylvania to California to see our grandchildren, and then took a long sightseeing route on the way back. While we were away, our car essentially lunched itself and we had to get a new car in August. The “new” car is a 2022 Ford Edge ST, and so far I rather like it.

In September, we flew to England to participate in my father's 80th birthday celebration. We both got sick as we came home, and have been coughing and spluttering ever since. Later this year, we will be driving back to California again. Like I said, it has been quite the year.

So there's been almost no content from me besides my weekly Raw Sound Sunday videos, and there probably won't be anything in the way of videoblogging from me for a while. I did pick up a new camera during the year, so I have been able to raise the quality of the videos. If you fancy getting a camera like mine, you can do me a solid and buy one through my Video Gear page so I can earn a little bit of pocket money!
